Co-owners Chuck and Debra Gomez have restored the art deco theater into a performing arts venue.  A band appearing on the evening of Feb. 22 necessitated the earlier starting time for the history program.

Yesterday, Feb. 14, a Blue Toyota Prius eluded the Oregon State Police in The Dalles. The vehicle fled east on I-84. At about 1530 hours, the Sherman County Sheriff’s Office located the vehicle in Biggs Junction.

Oregon State Police were jammed on Thursday, Feb. 13 as snowy and icy conditions sent them on a run of 13 motor vehicle accidents including a double car fire and two wrecks where people had to be cut out of their vehicles.

On a snowy February Friday, the college took delivery of a cutting-edge Mazak Optiplex 3015 2.5kW CO₂ Laser, further enhancing its ability to support local industries in prototyping and manufacturing.

The Dalles' Last Stop Saloon transformed into an artistic haven as it hosted "Paint Nite," led by local artist Denae' Manion.

“The China Crew at the Seufert Brothers Cannery” is topic of the Saturday, Feb. 8 Regional History Forum at the Original Wasco County Courthouse. The photo shows the bunkhouse for Chinese workers, brought to The Dalles by labor contractors for the seasonal salmon runs.

Kiwanis Programs February 2025

Rewards doubled to $400 for people who report certain illegal fishing offenses which lead to an arrest or citation in Oregon. Cash rewards encourage people to participate in the conservation of Oregon fish and wildlife by calling the Turn In Poachers (TIP) Line if they suspect poaching. Reporting parties may remain anonymous.

A full house gathered at The Dalles  Wasco County Public Library on Friday night, Jan. 31, for an evening of mind tricks and mystery as hypnotist Joe Black took the stage.

The Wasco Public Library hosted a hands-on cooking event for children on Jan. 30, featuring students from The Dalles High School Advanced Cooking Class. The Kid-Friendly Cooking Class invited children from pre-K to fifth grade to observe and participate in a simple, fun recipe demonstration.

A woman was arrested early Wednesday morning after allegedly stealing a pickup truck in The Dalles and crashing it south of Maupin, according to law enforcement officials.
