The Dalles, Ore. Feb. 18, 2025 — Co-owners Chuck and Debra Gomez have restored the art deco theater into a performing arts venue.  A band appearing on the evening of Feb. 22 necessitated the earlier starting time for the history program.

The afternoon history forum will cover the history of the first theater west of the Mississippi designed for the “talkies,” a review of current and future community functions and national acts taking place there, and a tour of the vintage venue located at 2nd and Washington Streets in The Dalles.

The program “Joseph Brown, Jewish Merchant:  Buried Outside the Fence,” originally scheduled for Feb. 15 will take place Saturday, Mar. 1.  It begins at 1:30 p.m. at the Original Courthouse, 410 West 2nd Place.  Earlier programs from this year’s series and some from prior years can be accessed via YouTube at "OWCC History Forums."
