Gilliam County, Ore., Feb. 14, 2025 — Oregon State Police were jammed on Thursday, Feb. 13 as snowy and icy conditions sent them on a run of 13 motor vehicle accidents including a double car fire and two wrecks where people had to be cut out of their vehicles.

Eastside Troopers were hammered with calls as authorities were at the same time dealing with 8 wrecks that occurred in a pile-up near Multnomah Falls around 10:45 a.m. that blocked westbound lanes for more than 6 hours.

Later in the day, a multi-vehicle crash on Interstate 84 in Gilliam County near Arlington injured two people Thursday afternoon, according to the Oregon State Police.

On Feb. 13 at about 1 p.m., a white semi-truck pulling a box trailer lost control on snow and ice while traveling westbound on Interstate 84 near Arlington. The semi crashed into the center median and jackknifed, blocking both lanes of traffic.

A white Subaru Outback slowed due to the jackknifed semi-truck and was rear-ended by a purple semi-truck and trailer. The Subaru driver sustained minor injuries and was evaluated at the scene by North Gilliam County Ambulance but was not transported to a hospital.

A red semi-truck with a trailer had also stopped due to the crash and was then rear-ended by a white RV pulling a white Jeep. The driver of the RV was extricated by North Gilliam County Fire and Rescue and transported to a hospital by ambulance.

Purdy’s Towing removed the jackknifed semi-truck, and DNR Towing towed the RV and Jeep from the scene.

The Oregon State Police did not release the names of those involved.

The crash remains under investigation.
