Question of the Week: Who Are you Rooting For in the Super Bowl?
By Joshuah Albert
The Dalles, Ore., Feb. 8, 2025— Welcome to Question of the Week, a weekly news column that poses timely questions about life, politics, culture, economics, health, and more to people out and about in our communities. Our hope at CCC News is that having this space dedicated to being curious about other people’s experiences can help us to deepen our understanding of people from all walks of life.
This week's question is: Who do you want to win the Super Bowl and why?
The Eagles, 17-3 and Chief’s 17-2 looks to be a great match up and locals were hoping for a tight game almost as much as the team they wanted to take the rings in Super bowl LIX. LIX? Huh?
NERD ALERT - L = 50, I = 1, and X = 10 - smaller numbers that precede a larger number are always subtracted from the following number in Roman numerals. Answer: 59.
The first Super Bowl in January 1967 featured the Green Bay Packers vs. the American Football League’s Kansas City Chiefs. It was the first meeting of the pro AFL and NFL leagues, thus the game was dubbed Super Bowl.
Ben Keeler, 14, The Dalles
“I think the Eagles are going to win,” Keeler said, noting he enjoys the food almost as much as the game. “They have been really good this season. I’ll be eating my nachos while they will have an intense win.”
Bruke Jensen, 18, The Dalles
“The Chefs, no questions asked. Pacheco is my homes and Travis Kelce is unstoppable. There’s no way it’s going to be a close game. I kind of wish it would be for fun but it won’t be.”
David Brecha, 61, Parkdale
We caught up with Brecha on a brisk jaunt along Riverside Trail - Google Fence edition.
“I want the Eagles to win. I’m so tired of Chef’s winning. They are so overblown. It feels like I see them on TV all the time. I hope the game will be exciting so I want it to be a tight one.”
