TDHS Marching Ensemble raises baton, tests their brass at Northwest Competition
Starting in mid-August, these kids devote hundreds of hours throughout the season to perfect 5 minutes on the field. And it paid off. This year, The Dalles High School Marching Ensemble took this practice to the next level for the first time in the school’s history.

Impromptu Organ Crawl November 18th
Members from the Portland branch of the American Guild of Organists (AGO) caught wind that we here in The Dalles boast five pipe organs, while many towns across the country our size have none. AGO contacted local organist Garry Estep to see about arranging an impromptu “organ crawl” so that some of their members might get literally “hands-on” to see what we have.
Bow Wow brings some big baskets at Bargeway; Bingo Winners abound
Detail Guy - Michael Held, 40, of The Dalles was like Klaus Meine of the Scorpions on Saturday night at the Bargeway Pub going 25 for 25 in an all-out blackout on his BINGO card at the Bow Wow Bingo and Brews fundraiser. The first-time event headed up by the board at the Home At Last animal shelter saw a great crowd as additional chairs and tables were called for as the room swelled to over 60 people.

The Dalles Main Street, The Dalles Area Chamber of Commerce, and Downtown The Dalles will host a trick or treat event complete with costumes, candy and fun on October 31, 20243 from 3-5 p.m. The event will also include the Monsters in the Park After Dark party at The Dalles City Park from 4 to 6 p.m. The event will include music, treats, yard games, a haunted room and more!
Columbia Gorge Pride Alliance to Host “A (K)night in Camelot”
Break out your chain mail and polish your jousting stick! Columbia Gorge Pride Youth Council is back with another free all ages dance. Festivities will kick off at Hood River Hotel at 102 Oak St on November 11 at 6 p.m. and run until 10 p.m. There will be a medieval and renaissance faire themed dance, drag, food, crafts and opportunities for attendees to show off their bard skills.

On October 30, 1938, Halloween, The Mercury Theater on the Air presented a radio show in the format of newscasts and musical entertainment. Most listeners tuning in missed the introductory presentation and thus believed that they were indeed listening to emergency newscasts about cylinders from Mars falling on the Earth.
