In a long-anticipated move, Washington Gorge Action Programs (WAGAP) will start phase one of a remodel plan for its main office at 115 W Steuben Street in Bingen. The project targets creating a better footprint for the many programs under its umbrella, opening up some needed office and conference spaces to improve client services.
Klickitat County Chosen for Cypress Creek Renewables’ Scholarship Program
Cypress Creek Renewables (Cypress Creek) is pleased to announce the continuation of its Energizing Tomorrow’s Leaders scholarship program. After awarding $81,000 in scholarships across 21 counties in 2024, the program is being offered to high school seniors in 26 counties this year, including in Klickitat County, Washington.

Mt. Adams Institute’s Sense of Place series is proud to present "Of Salmon and Basketball: A Conversation with Buck Jones" on Wednesday, February 12, featuring an evening spent in conversation with Buck Jones, an enrolled Cayuse member of the Confederated Tribes of the Umatilla Indian Reservation (CTUIR), a Columbia River Treaty Fisherman, and Salmon Marketing Specialist at the Columbia River Inter-Tribal Fish Commission (CRITFC).
Mobile Food Bank Schedule Changing
Washington Gorge Action Programs (WAGAP) is adjusting routes for its Mobile Food Bank to work within its budget for 2025. As a result, stops in Mill A and Lyle will be ending soon.

Tree of Joy reaches over 300 children
Donors responded to a call to help even more families this holiday season through the Tree of Joy program run by Washington Gorge Action Programs (WAGAP), increasing the number of children reached by nearly 100 this year.
MAI Supports Veterans, Youth and the Community Through Connections to Nature
This November, Mt. Adams Institute (MAI), a non-profit based in Trout Lake, WA, is inviting the community to “Invest in Connection and Conservation” with their end-of-year giving campaign. Donations will support MAI’a Vetswork, Land Stewards, and Sense of Place programs which work to strengthen Veterans, youth, and our communities' connection to nature.

Joanna Turner shares a passion for prevention
Joanna Turner is inspired to help young people. After raising three children as a single parent and working for a domestic violence shelter in the Columbia River Gorge, she wanted to be upstream working to prevent violence before it started. That meant finding ways to engage teens in rural communities so they are active, have a sense of purpose and belonging, enjoy better mental health, and are more resilient.

Public comment sought: We have teamed up with experts from Harper Houf Peterson Righellis (HHPR) and Columbia West Engineering to explore and develop a trail connection that will span approximately 0.19 miles from SR 14 to SR 141. This trail will navigate a steep, rocky hillside and pass close to several private properties.
