There were no operational burning operations yesterday. A small spot fire located in rough terrain was reported approximately 1.3 miles from the fire edge. Crews continued to improve contingency lines in preparation for future firing operations if conditions warrant.
he Williams Mine Fire burning in heavy timber near Trout Lake, Wash., grew to more than 4,000 acres on Wednesday and a new incident command team took charge of the blaze this morning.

A low-pressure system on Wednesday brought winds at more than 30 mph surging the fire in its southwest corner. Fire managers called in for aerial support as the blaze moved toward the Alderwood area in east Klickitat County.
The Sheriff’s Office has been proactively assessing the situation with the Wasco County District Attorney’s Office as information has become available. At the completion of the investigation, the Sheriff’s Office and the Wasco County District Attorney’s Office will review the findings and determine whether or not and what criminal charges will be filed.
With lower wind speeds and subdued fire behavior, crews worked to secure more of the fire’s east end with hand line, dozer line, and water drops from helicopters and other air resources. The fire continued to back down on a north-facing ridge along I-84 just west of Mosier and will likely do so through today. Smoke can be observed along the highway.

A structure fire was reported today at Georgeville Rd, just off of Hwy 97 North of Goldendale.
The Winslow Road Fire has been successfully halted, as reported by the Oregon Department of Forestry (ODF) Central Oregon. The fast growing fire was propelled by winds up to 45 mph, and quickly grew to 950 acres of land. The terrain included a mix of timber, brush, and recently harvested wheatland.

A fire was reported at Inside Out Fitness located at 15 3rd St in downtown Hood River, was reported this morning at 7:51a.m. Hood River Fire and Resuce, Mid Columbia Fire and Resuce Wy’East Fire, Mosier Fire and Cascade Locks Fire responded to the scene. “This all happened in seconds,” said Richard Dant, owner of Inside Out Fitness.

As Hurricane Hilary alters atmospheric conditions, residents of various Gorge regions are urged to remain cautious and vigilant due to the impending influx of smoke from Canadian wildfires. The National Weather Service has forecasted "areas of smoke" across the Gorge until Sunday night, with relief expected as winds change direction on Monday.

The Fire Fundraiser for families who lost their homes to the Milepost 87 fire got off to a slow start this morning with only two contestant showing up to participate in the Cornhole tournament. which runs today from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
The Newell Road Fire continues to pose a significant threat. The 59,858 acre fire is currently at 40% containment; multiple evacuation orders and road closures remain in effect.
