Women’s Giving Circle Donates Over $5K to The Next Door Inc. and Community Backpack Program
Each year, the Mid Columbia Health Foundation’s (MCHF) Women’s Giving Circle, donates their dues to local nonprofits. Since it began in 2019, the group has raised over $46,000 for community organizations. For their 2023 annual donation, the Women’s Giving Circle generously selected The Next Door Inc. (TNDI) and the Community Backpack Program as their two recipients!
Organizations Partner to Bring Holiday Meals to Native American Community Members
This holiday season, The Next Door Inc.'s (TNDI) Native Supports team has been joined by community partners, Gorge Native American Collaborative (GNAC) and Oregon Department of Human Services (ODHS), to bring comfort and joy to Native American community members in the Mid-Columbia region.

Columbia Gorge Pride Alliance (CGPA) hosted their 2nd annual pride parade and resource fair in The Dalles on June 25th. Over 150 people marched in the parade and about 300 people visited the resource fair at Lewis and Clark Festival Park throughout the day.
Oregon Trail Transitional Living Program Finds New Home at Youth Empowerment Shelter
For over two decades, The Next Door Inc. (TNDI) has housed the Oregon Trail Transitional Living (OT) program, providing transitional living services to hundreds of houseless youth in the Gorge. Now, partnering agencies are pleased to announce that the Oregon Trail Transitional Living program will be operated by the Youth Empowerment Shelter in The Dalles as of July 1, 2023.

This spring, Klickitat County residents and professionals are encouraged to participate in a transformative 5-week “Lunch N' Learn” workshop series aimed at fostering stronger communities. The workshop series, titled "Communities of Care in Klickitat County," begins on May 31st, 2023.
Pride Alliance Conducts LGBTQIA+ Community Needs Assessment
The Columbia Gorge Pride Alliance (CGPA) Columbia Gorge Pride was established in 2017 to create a secure space for the LGBTQIA2S+ community in the Gorge. To further understand the needs and strengths of the LGBTQIA2S+ community in the Columbia River Gorge, CGPA is conducting an online survey.

Like most foster children, Christopher arrived at the Klahre House, one of The Next Door's two alternative schools, with severe trauma, a challenging family life, and drug addictions. He needed treatment, support, and a place he felt he belonged. The Klahre House Alternative School was that place.
Pride Alliance to host Gothic-themed Prom

MCCAC Receives $1.5 Million to Develop Navigation Center in The Dalles

“I’ve always loved helping others that have experienced barriers that my family has struggled with in the past,” said Lissette Rivera. She is a Community Health Worker with Bridges to Health. All CHWs within the Bridge. She helps clients with anything from making a dental appointment to accessing food, transportation, or housing.
