The Dalles Wasco County Library hosted "Star Wars Day” on May 4th. Community members and families enjoyed cosplaying as their favorite characters, cupcakes, inflatable lightsabers, an R2D2 trash can take and make kit, and more.

The skies over Klickitat County will see a notable absence after May 1, 2024, as Doug Herlihy, also known as "Air-1," has retired from the Klickitat County Sheriff’s Office Airwing. For twenty years, Herlihy has piloted his yellow Piper Cub, logging over 1,411 hours of his impressive 19,000 career flight hours in service to the county.

The upper parking lot of our local library transformed into a vibrant stage for an exclusive Fire Poi training session and performance on May 2, at 7:30 p.m. Led by poi expert Pollyanna Lind, twelve fortunate participants, ranging from ages 11 to adults, delved into the dynamic art of poi spinning.

Wagon Con gaming convention is being held in The Dalles, at the Civic Auditorium this weekend. This event features board games, tabletop RPGs, miniatures, and a variety of other gaming activities. A weekend pass for $55 to play unlimited games as long as a table has space.

Like many who immigrated to the United States, Guillermo left Mexico in search of a better life for himself and his family. Given his dire circumstances, there wasn't time to obtain the resources needed to cross the border legally and Guillermo had to leave his wife and three children behind.

Today, April 24, Google announced it is contributing $50,000 to Dufur School District to support the creation of a new school-based health center designed to expand access to medical care for both students and the broader community. Dufur School will use the funds to purchase a modular building to house the new health center, which will offer medical services to students, staff, and others in the district. 

Henry Begay, of The Dalles High School was signed to Blue Mountain Community College today, April 23 surrounded by his family, friends, coaches and teammates. 

Volunteers joined Friends of the Columbia Gorge and the US Forest Service in removing hundreds of invasive plants at the Balfour-Klickitat Area and Trail last Friday April 23rd.

These young competitors have worked hard to earn this opportunity and we know that they will represent the community in a manner we can all be proud of,” said Cyndi Gentry, Director of Corporate Services for the PUD.

Brick City & Games won 1st place in the Cherry Festival Window Decorating Contest with 147 votes and an impressive Cherry Festival lego build that filled their display windows. The display, built from hundreds of legos included a model of the Cherry Festival parade, carnival, music stage, vendors, community, and of course, a Brick City Games store.
