PUD Board puts their money on local Robotics teams in push for World Championship
From Northern Wasco County PUD:
The Dalles, Ore., April 23, 2024 — The Board of Directors of the PUD is proud to support the Robotics Teams of The Dalles High School and The Dalles Middle School. All three teams will be competing at the VEX World Championship from April 24th to May 3rd in Dallas, Texas.
On April 2nd, the teams attended the PUD Board General Session. They provided demonstrations with their robots and talked about the competitions. They also spoke about the skills learned and used when competing. The Board was impressed with the presentations and unanimously voted to donate $5,000 to the program for their trip to Worlds.
Beyond science and engineering principles, VEX encourages creativity, teamwork, leadership, and problem-solving among groups.
“Supporting STEM (science, technology, engineering, and math) in the schools is important to the District. These young competitors have worked hard to earn this opportunity and we know that they will represent the community in a manner we can all be proud of,” said Cyndi Gentry, Director of Corporate Services for the PUD. “We wish them safe travels as they depart tomorrow, and the best of luck at Worlds.”
