Hood River County Voters give Harris the nod with 65 percent of the vote, eclipsing her statewide tally by 11 points. County Voters also give the Columbia Gorge Community College bond enough push to pass, despite Wasco County Voters voting 53 percent against it.

The Dalles Lions had a brisk business this morning as dozens of vehicles rolled through the ballot drop-off site next to the Wasco County Courthouse. 

Ballot returns thus far in the general election continue to be far off from returns in the 2020 presidential bid in Wasco and Hood River counties. So what is going on? Wasco County Elections Clerk Lisa Gambee provides some insight and theory.

Already this year, more people in Oregon have tested positive for pertussis than in any year since 2018. In the past month, several people in Hood River and Wasco counties tested positive for pertussis.

As of Monday, Oct. 7, Wasco and Hood River counties is off around 10 percent compared to the past midterm election of 2018. But there is still time. You have until 8 p.m. to get your ballots dropped off today, Tuesday, Nov. 8. And all ballot boxes in Oregon are open until 8 p.m. regardless of weather conditions.
