The North Wasco County Education Foundation (NWCEF) is proud to announce the recipients of its Fall 2025 Classroom Mini-Grant awards. Sixteen educators from across North Wasco County School District 21 were selected for funding this season, totaling $7,510.31, to bring creative, hands-on, and student-centered learning experiences to their classrooms.

In an effort to find more common ground between artists and community members, MediaRites presents The -Ism Storytellers Project, an afternoon of personal stories from the heart, hosted and curated by Larry Toda, MediaRites’ Board Member, who has a family history in The Dalles. It will be held at The Dalles Civic Auditorium on Nov. 1 from 2:30 p.m. to 4 p.m.

The City of The Dalles Wastewater Treatment Plant has discharged effluent that exceeds the plant’s limit for E. coli due to incomplete disinfection. Sample test results read on the morning of October 28, 2025, indicated an E. coli exceedance. Several resamples in the following 24-hour period confirmed that the treatment process is not under control. The cause of the exceedance is unknown at this time.

Starting November 3rd, the intersection of Hostetler and W 6th St. will be Fully Closed for the installation of the underground storm line improvements. The closure will be in effect 24/7 with an estimated duration of 2.5 weeks.

On Thursday, October 30, 2025, the City of The Dalles Public Works will repair a catch basin on the 6th Street Bridge. The catch basin is creating a road hazard and must be repaired.

The Mid-Columbia Houseless Collaborative announces a free community screening of No Place to Grow Old, a documentary film that captures a growing crisis unfolding quietly across America: older adults aging into houselessness. The event will take place on November 6, 2025, at 6:30 p.m. at The Granada Theatre, located at 221 E 2nd Street in The Dalles.
