Autumn has made it to the gorge and with the crisp fresh air, a record-breaking fall run of chinook salmon has made its presence known. The Sorosis Park rehabilitation project has hit a new milestone today. The North Wasco County Parks and Recreation District (NWPRD) has successfully secured an Oregon State Parks grant amounting to $420,000, which will cover 60% of the estimated $700,000 replacement cost for the TreeTop playground structure at Sorosis Park. NWPRD will cover the remaining 40% of the cost, meaning the project to replace the TreeTop play structure is now fully funded.
At the Baker Meet on Sept. 28 - Like the boys’ race, the Riverhawk girls ran consistently, with few personal records- but a notable one-minute improvement for freshman Riley Elliot, who was sporting her mom’s cross country hoodie after the race.

Mid-Columbia Community Concert Association (MCCCA) is pleased to present Locarno, Tuesday, October 3rd at The Dalles Civic Auditorium. Doors open at 6:00 p.m. with the Civic’s Club 22 providing food and drinks for purchase. The show begins at 7:00 p.m.
OSU Sherman County Extension is offering free classes to youth and adults to learn skills in food preservation in September and October. The first class was held Saturday, September 9 at the pavilion in Grass Valley during the farmers market.
Last month, Four Rivers Family Early Learning & Parenting Hub staff members and The Dalles Lions Club members joined efforts to fill over 75 backpacks with school supplies for local children entering Kindergarten this fall.
