This year’s season of giving campaign, Two for GivingTuesday, will kick off at Washington Gorge Action Programs (WAGAP) beginning Tuesday, November 28, 2023. “We are inviting community members to stop by Stevenson, Bingen, and Goldendale Housing offices to say hello and pick up two free WAGAP shopping bags,” said Jennifer Pauletto, associate director.

Patriotism is blowing up all over the Gorge as the towns of the Mid-Columbia are riding the Fourth of July Rocket into a deluge of parades, runs, food, music and good times with our neighbors. The Dalles, Hood River, Goldendale, Cascade Locks, White Salmon, Stevenson, and Skamania County are all offering a charcuterie tray of fun peppered with gunpowder.
William Jones, a 69-year-old resident of Skamania, has been taken into custody after discharging his firearm near his neighbor’s residence. The incident occurred on the early morning of February 20, 2023, on Little Road in Skamania, Washington.
A recent block grant of $7.3 million will help fund Washington State’s 30 Community Action Agencies - including the Washington Gorge Action Program serving Klickitat and Skamania counties - to stabilize and equip families and individuals to exit poverty for good through a network of local organizations.
A VANtastic Art and Music Fest will occur at the Columbia Gorge Interpretive Center Museum Grounds located at 990 SW Rock Creek Dr. Stevenson, WA on Sunday September 4 from 10:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. The event is free for the local community and for Community Art Studio of Skamania (CASS) supporters.
"We also see an opportunity to expand service to other locations such as Dallesport, Wishram, Trout Lake, and perhaps at In Lieu sites to serve our Native communities," aid Leslie Naramore, WAGAP Executive Director. "A Mobile Food Pantry will allow us to do this."
Grand Jury Indicts Logan Cantwell, 23, on charges of attempted murder after Wasco District Attorney alleged he fired on a Wasco County Deputy after a chase led them near Shaniko. Cantwell is currently being lodged in the Skamania County Jail.

A local donor has stepped forward to make $15,000 in matching funds available for Washington Gorge Action Programs (WAGAP) effort to raise $50,000 to rebuild the COVID-19 Relief Fund by December 31.
Washington Gorge Action Programs is participating in GivingTuesday for the first time this year in an effort to highlight everyone who makes the agency successful, and it will be setting a new goal to raise $50,000 for the Covid-19 Relief Fund which will all go directly back to support Skamania and Klickitat County residents in need.
