Houseless Collaborative preps cooling resources
In anticipation of this summer’s dangerously hot temperatures and wildfire smoke events, Mid-Columbia Houseless Collaborative partners will have free cooling kits available for houseless residents. They have also compiled lists of local sites where people may seek safety when life-threatening conditions set in.
EC Works Launches Search for WorkSource Benefits Navigator in Columbia Gorge
On April 15, 2024, East Cascades Works (EC Works) launched its search for a WorkSource Benefits Navigator provider in the Columbia Gorge: Wasco, Sherman, Gilliam, Hood River, and Wheeler Counties and is inviting proposals from qualified entities interested in providing comprehensive Benefits Navigation services.
Grant to support South Wasco and Hood River County School Districts’ CTE Programming
The Columbia Gorge Education Service District (CGESD) has received a CTE Revitalization Grant of $265,959 in funding through June 2025. The grant will be managed by the Columbia Gorge STEM Hub and will support and expand access to current manufacturing technologies at two local partner school districts, South Wasco County School District and Hood River County School District.
Winter keeps Houseless Collaborative partners busy
With winter in full force, partners throughout the region have been pooling resources together to help houseless community members cope with potentially life-threatening conditions. To keep this and other efforts going, Mid-Columbia Houseless Collaborative is extending an open invitation for individuals and organizations to learn more about its members’ work over the past year and their plans for 2024 at its next quarterly meeting from 3:00 - 5:00 p.m. on February 13 via Zoom.
