Secret's Out; TD is Little Music City

Secret's Out; TD is Little Music City

Al Hare

By Tom Peterson

Local Musicians Al Hare brother Nolan and Zac Grooms sat down with Oregon Public Broadcasting’s Dave Miller on Monday, Dec. 12 at the Bargeway Pub.

The Hares have been spearheading a collaborative effort between local restaurants and musicians to bring live music every night to The Dalles.

It’s getting noticed. And now it’s getting statewide coverage.

Al Hare said the idea gained a lot of traction when COVID shut restaurants down to indoor seating and they created the virtual concert series called Play it Safe with each concert dedicated to a local restaurant’s take-out services.

“It kept us in business and brought the restaurants altogether,” Al Hare said this morning, Dec. 13. “They are all now promoting live music together, and it allows us to treat The Dalles as a destination.”

“I’m excited about the outreach of it,” Hare said of OPB’s coverage of the story on Monday. “Definitely.”
