Last Day of the 2021-2022 School Year Has Changed

Surprise late-season snow and cold weather led to school being closed on Monday, April 11. Lyle School will make up the lost day by extending our school year through June 13. It will be a half day with dismissal at noon.

The school year is already five days shorter than originally planned 180 days. The state superintendent’s office approved Lyle School District’s request to waive the days lost at the beginning of January due to snow and ice, and a day lost to insufficient staffing in November.

Schools in Washington state can request waivers for school days lost to emergency situations, as long as they provide at least the minimum amount of instructional minutes in the school year.

Students New to Lyle School in 2022-2023 Should Register Soon

Will the 2022-2023 school year be your child’s first year in Lyle Schools? Students new to the school, in any grade level, are welcome to register now through June 10. This is a great time to complete the enrollment process, for several reasons:

  • If you get it done now, you won’t have to stand in line with the crowd this this fall.

  • If your child needs any immunizations, you’ll have plenty of time to get them done before school starts.

  • You’ll give us time to order and receive school records, so we place your secondary student in the right level of classes.

  • You’ll also help us have an accurate count of students by grade level for the coming year. By registering now, you can give us time to pre-plan what our classroom space will look like and hire any staff needed to serve our students.
