Kiwanis programs for February 2024

KIWANIS PROGRAMS:  Kiwanis meetings are held every Thursday at noon at Spooky’s and visitors are welcome.  This week’s events include:

— Feb. 1 Public Works Chief Dave Anderson fills us in on the Dog River Pipeline.

— Feb. 8 Steve Carlson, consultant to the American Meteorological Society, addresses climate change.

— Feb. 15 Jon Hancock presents “Savvy Cybersecurity:  How to Thwart Scammers, Hackers, and Frauds."

— Feb. 22 Police Chief Tom Worthy and the Animal Control officer bring updates.

— Feb. 29 Kiwanians celebrate Leap Day with a social (no noontime meeting).

Karl Vercouteren

Karl Vercouteren came to The Dalles in 1977 to become pastor of United Church of Christ Congregational. Early on he joined Cascade Singers and the Original Courthouse board, reflecting life-long interests in music and history. Since retirement in 2008 he has taken on several projects writing about local history.
