Hood River, Ore., March 6, 2024 – Hood River New School, a non-profit learning institution for sixth- through eighth-graders, will host their annual community learning event for the public on Friday, March 15, from 2:30 to 4:30 p.m. This year, the student expo theme is Oregon History Day.
Students have delved into various history topics to produce informative projects for the community.
“Students are ready to share some fascinating and impressive projects with the community,” said Eliza Eaton, Executive Director of Hood River New School.
“Each student chose a history topic and learned how to deepen their search skills beyond 'Googling', going deep into online archives, libraries, primary visual sources, and in some cases, interviewing experts on their topic,” said Eaton.
“Next, they learned how to develop a robust thesis and organize primary and secondary sources that support their argument. Finally, they chose a medium with which to convey their learning, from essays to documentaries, dramatic performances to museum-style exhibits.”
Eaton expressed pride in what the students have produced for the student expo.
"Our students have immersed themselves in deep research and creative expression, choosing topics that resonate with them and mediums that best convey their learning. We're excited to share their hard work and fascinating projects with the community,” said Eaton.
Hood River New School is located at 220 Clearwater Lane, Hood River, Oregon.
