Bald tires lead to roll over, injuring several from TD, Dallesport

A 2017 maroon Kia Sorento, driven by Theresa Trotter, 58, no address given, was southbound on SR 35. A 2019 KTM motorcycle, driven by Ryan Grassmann, 41, no address given, was northbound on Highway 35 near milepost 62. As the KTM approached NF48 road the Kia made a left turn in front of the KTM onto NF48 road. The KTM attempted to swerve to avoid the Kia but was unsuccessful. The right side of the KTM side swiped the right rear quarter panel of the Kia then fell over along the left shoulder ejecting its passengers. Grassman and his passenger Anne Snyder-Grassman, 42, were transported by ambulance to Emmanuel Hospital in Portland. The occupants of the Kia were not injured. All vehicles were towed by Parkdale Towing.

On August 6, 2020, at approximately 8:17 PM Troopers with the Oregon State Police were dispatched to a two vehicle crash on I-84 Eastbound at MP 42.5 in Hood River County. The investigation determined a green Pontiac Grand Am operated by Todd Alvin Bligh, 36, of The Dalles, was passing a silver Volkswagen Passat operated by Phillip Campbell, 27, of Dallesport when Mr. Bligh lost control of his vehicle, left his lane, and side swiped the Volkswagen Passat causing both vehicles to hit the embankment. The Pontiac came to an uncontrolled rest on its roof facing north. Three of the 4 tires on the Pontiac were bald. The Volkswagen came to an uncontrolled rest facing west. Mr. Bligh and his passenger, Michelle Daniels, 38, of The Dalles were transported by ground ambulance to Legacy Emanuel Hospital in Portland. Mr. Campbell and his passengers, Kaitlynn Jones, 19, of Klickitat, and a 17 year old juvenile, were transported to Providence Hood River Hospital by ground ambulance. Both vehicles were towed from the scene by River’s Edge Towing. Mr. Bligh will be issued citations at a later date for Failing to Maintain a Single Lane, Operation of an Unsafe Vehicle, and Driving Uninsured. The Oregon State Police was assisted by the Hood River County Sheriff’s Office, Cascade Locks Fire Department, Skamania County EMS, and the Oregon Department of Transportation.
