The Dalles Booster Club along with The Dalles High School Athletics is happy to announce details for the upcoming 2024 Hall of Fame event for Saturday, May 4th, 2024, at 5 p.m. 

Wasco County is looking to apply for a $1,000,000 grant to develop an unfinished RV campground on a 159.08 acre county-owned property on the west side of The Dalles.

There is no quit in Hood River legend Peggy Lalor. The Gorge Games founder has fought her way back from a near-death experience when she was hit by a car while riding her bike in Calgary in 2010. The physical challenges of recovery seem to have made her even more steadfast as she pushes forward on her goal of improving the planet.

The team’s first competition of the season happened Saturday, March 16 at the Wahtonka Track in The Dalles and, by the looks of things, the Timberwolves are blistering. 

The Dalles High School held a signing day ceremony for Senior Zoe LeBreton, yesterday afternoon on March 18, at 3 p.m. to celebrate the continuation of her education and her softball career at Clackamas Community College. 

Goldendale High School tennis is underway and second year tennis coach Jenn Neil is looking forward to the 2024 season with anticipation and eagerness to keep the program’s momentum moving forward. 

Overhead lights will soon illuminate the skate park and pump track during evening hours, a real boon to scooters, skaters, and bike bombers. The lights will become especially nice when the heat hits in coming months and the facility can be used into the evening hours when temperatures drop, said North Wasco County Parks and Recreation Director Scott Baker.

Columbia Gorge Roller Derby All Stars and Blood-n-Gorge both won their first bout of the season on Feb. 24 raising nearly $400 for Culture Seed in the process.

Goldendale Junior Matthew Gray displayed his athleticism and now has a state wrestling championship to his name. The team finished third in the state 1B/2B team division and several individuals picked up top medals this weekend.

No fishing/shellfish licenses or tags including a Combined Angling Tag, Columbia River Basin Endorsement, Two-Rod Validation or Rogue-South Coast Steelhead Validation/Tag are required Feb. 17 and 18.

TDHS cheer has gone on to win first place in four out of four of their winter season competitions, making them undefeated. They are now perfecting their Game Day routine for the OSAA State Championship, which happens today, Feb. 9th.

“Overall, we had great contributions from all players,” said Varsity Coach Chris Siebert. “We started the season slow but have really come on strong in the second half of the season. I am very proud of this team as a first-year Varsity Coach, we have really come together.” 

Goldendale High School Wrestlers competed at the Sundome for District 5 Championships and rocked the brackets with 17 wrestlers placing in the top 7 on Friday, Feb. 2nd. 

The players were ineligible because they were attending North Wasco County’s alternative high school, Innovations Academy, which did not have OSAA membership, a requirement for eligibility.

Goldendale was coming off a win at the Eastern Washington Athletic Conference Champions held on Thursday, Jan. 24, and the team rode that momentum as they earned dual wins over The Dalles and Washougal. Mike Salsbury brings us another stunning photo essay as teams are headed toward the postseason.

For the first time since 2014, the girls’ team made the podium at the State Championship, placing fourth at 141 points, just 3 points ahead of fellow Tri-Valley team Crook County.
