Dry Hollow Elementary's 100th day turns Car Parade
Dry Hollow Elementary staff took the 100th day of school to a new level this year with a host of crazy characters and a car parade to celebrate the effort students and parents have put into distance learning. The celebration is typically held for kindergarten, but it was expanded this year to give the whole community a chance to celebrate. See the YouTube here.

It's no secret; Masons do good work in our community
I found a lot more about Phil Pinto this week. He is the current The Dalles Masonic Lodge Master, and the organization just earned the 2020 Outstanding Philanthropic Group by Mid-Columbia Health Foundation. The Masons provide an immense amount of support to local students and teachers and the community at large.
D21 News: Superintendent hiring; Chenowith Principal Resigns
School Board members are set to discuss the contract for hiring Carolyn Bernal as the next Superintendent of District 21 at a special meeting on Friday, Feb. 19 at 5:30 p.m. In other news, Phil Williams has taken over as principal at Chenowith Elementary School. Read more here.

Sendejas put his hand in the air to help locals find homes
"Growing up I constantly struggled with, ‘I’m not good enough’, 'I can’t do this’, or ‘I’m never gonna make it’.” Battling with those voices, it was really nice to have people encouraging me, letting me know that I am of worth and I’m doing great,” remembers Josh Sendejas. Josh is now front and center using his gift of gab to help people locate essentials such as housing and utilities.
Board chooses Bernal for D21 Superintendent
The North Wasco County School District Board unanimously agreed to begin contract negotiations with Dr. Carolyn Bernal of Oxnard, Calif., to become the District 21 permanent superintendent to start on July 1, 2021. “I am thrilled we found someone with her qualifications and experience,” said Board Member Rebecca Thistlethwaite.

TD School Foundation looking to diversify its volunteer group
To better educate and serve students, The North Wasco Education Foundation is looking to increase its numbers through the recruitment of a more diverse group of volunteers. Hispanics, Native Americans, Pacific Islanders, and other groups, as well as families whose resources are challenged, should have a seat at the table.
