Getting Personal with The Diaries of George Vause - Regional History Forum
It was over 100 years ago at the old St. Paul’s Chapel on Union Street that George Vause began a lifetime career as a church organist. As a perceptive and sometimes opinionated young boy, Vause began keeping a journal. The earliest three volumes paint an intimate picture of life in The Dalles in the early 1900s.

Cascade Singers Cancel Christmas Humming Due to Statewide Freeze, Look Ahead to Broadway Show Music Concert
Cascade Singers won’t be singing this Christmas. They’ll be humming. Christmas “Hum-Along" with limited seating and COViD-19 precautions takes place Friday, Dec. 11, Saturday, Dec. 12, and Sunday, Dec. 13 at Zion Lutheran Church, 10th and Union Streets in The Dalles.
TD Kiwanis seize their one day at Sorosis
With brushes in-hand, Kiwanis members spent the beautiful afternoon enjoying the camaraderie and sealing picnic tables and benches at the barbecue area at Sorosis Park. The project has been long-needed at the popular gathering site. The service provided a huge boost to Northern Wasco County Parks and Recreation, which received hundreds of hours of free labor.

The last HISTORY missives were way back in February, when we had five well-attended Regional History Forum programs at the Original Courthouse. The last MUSIC announcement was for the Cascade Singers’ “St. Pat’s at St. Pete’s” event that never happened— you'll recall that March 17, 2020 was the very day everything closed down because of COVID-19. We’re still in the precautionary stages re: the virus. But some things are happening. So get out your calendar and check some links and prepare to find out what’s happening.
