It's Sedimentary
The city of The Dalles Clay Bouy and Dan Roberts flush out a fire hydrant at the corner of Kelly and 11th streets this morning. The maintenance flushes out sediment that could hamper fire fighting efforts. The sediment, if left unchecked, can gum up firefighting equipment. Clay used a clear plastic cup to check the clarity of the water periodically. He also pointed out the “pepper flakes” in the bottom of the cup. Little flakes like that kind grind through and gum up fire equipment. It’s also not such a bad job on a hot day. Temperatures are expected to hit 90 degrees Fahrenheit today. Prognosticators expected to drop sharply to 76 on Thursday with winds picking back up to 20 mph. Carpe Diem.
