Walldogs' first mural going up at TD's Oregon Motor Motel
Brad Johnson, Justin Riede and Pete McKearnan, above, were burning the midnight oil tonight, Oct. 15 as they paint a rodeo queen at the Oregon Motor Motel at 200 E. 2nd Street, The Dalles.
Known as the Walldogs, these artists will be painting through Oct. 17th, from sunup to sunset at this location.
Their work was prompted by The Dalles Mainstreet’s push for the Northwest MuralFest slated to begin next year. It gives a little insight into what the Walldogs will be bringing to town.
Earlier in the evening, The Dalles Mainstreet committee on murals held voting on 30 different themes from 5:30 p.m. - 7:30 p.m. at The National Neon Sign Museum in downtown The Dalles. They are working on selecting 15 murals to adorn the walls of downtown businesses.
Selections will be made public in the near future as they hash out who and what deserves the paint.
All are welcome to join their open, upcoming meetings which are held every other Wednesday from 3:30-4:30 at Meadow Outdoor Advertising. They are always looking for more volunteers. The next meeting date is October 27th. Or, request a zoom link if you’re unable to attend in person. They also encourage people to check out the website, www.northwestmuralfest.com if they would like to find out more.
