Vancouver man arrested for DUII after driving the wrong way on I-84 for 7 miles

Hood River, Ore. Feb. 10, 2025 – A Vancouver, Washington, man was arrested early Sunday, Feb. 9th, after allegedly driving westbound in the eastbound lanes of Interstate 84 while intoxicated, according to the Oregon State Police.

OSP responded to a report from the Oregon Department of Transportation about a suspected intoxicated driver at the Cascade Locks Port of Entry around 3:30 a.m. A second caller later reported that a light blue Subaru Outback was traveling the wrong way on I-84 near milepost 65.

Troopers located the vehicle after it had driven 7 miles in the wrong direction and stopped it at milepost 58. The driver, identified as Alexander Valentinovich Fedorov, 29, of Vancouver, was taken into custody.

According to OSP, Fedorov showed visible signs of intoxication, including slurred speech, a flushed face, bloodshot and glassy eyes, the odor of alcohol on his breath, and loss of bladder control. He was transported to NORCOR, where he provided a breath sample of 0.20%, more than twice the legal limit.

Fedorov was booked into NORCOR on charges of DUII – Intoxicants, reckless driving, and recklessly endangering another person.

Authorities towed and impounded his Subaru Outback which is allowed under Senate Bill 780 when offenses include DUII, no operator's license, and driving uninsured. 

The car was removed by River’s Edge Towing and impounded. OSP is continuing its investigation.
