About the Artist

Eric Kallio holds up a sticker that features the album art of his first solo album.

“Glass Wood & Steel" is my first solo album released in 2016. I was still finding my singing voice, but each track beautifully captures the tones of the three American acoustic guitars that I perform live with today. They harmonize together creating layers of acoustic texture,” said Kallio.

Eric Kallio started playing the guitar in 1992 while living in Virginia. Initially influenced by artists like the Allman Bros, Grateful Dead, Flecktones, Phish and Bob Marley, he began to learn how to play their styles. He's performed in seven different bands on on electric guitar and bass with styles ranging from rock, jazz, funk, country and psychedelic jam.

He moved to Oregon in 2007 and continued to perform with various groups in the Portland area. In 2010 he joined forced with Reed College as one of their PE and outdoor programs instructors. He the moved to Government Camp on Mt. Hood to manage their private hostel and adventure base camp. This is when he started focusing on playing acoustic guitars. Facing some isolation on the mountain, Eric started his solo singer/songwriter approach to music in 2012. It was then that he found his singing voice and began exploring reso-phonic guitars and slide playing.

He is currently performing with the three iconic American acoustic guitar innovations that include, the square-neck dobro, round-neck tricone, and dreadnought. He is also active in the studio as a session player for many other artists, and appears on a growing number of albums. With 2 full-length albums out, and a third in production, Eric is a blooming new force in the world of folk music.
