By Joshuah Albert

The Dalles, Ore., December 20, 2023 – The Dalles Public Library hosted its gingerbread house-making event for children and families, witnessing a significant turnout. This year marks the second successful run of the event, with all preordered gingerbread houses being claimed before the event started.

Rita Squires, the library clerk who organized the event, shared her enthusiasm with CCCnews.

"I love gingerbread houses and seeing families come together. It's great to see both new and familiar faces," Squires said. She recalled watching a now-tall teenager grow up over the years, a testament to the event's community impact.

Squires expressed her gratitude towards the families for maintaining cleanliness during the event.

"I'm grateful that everyone helped keep the place clean after making their houses," she added.
