280 Earth is seeking a 5-year Enterprise Zone Tax Abatement in Wasco County. The CO2 reduction plant is looking at $195 million in investment locally in years to come and is looking for a boost in the form of reduced property taxes from the Port of The Dalles, The City of The Dalles and Wasco County. 

In September of 2021, an illegal tree and brush clear-cut took place along the Riverfront Trail on Port of The Dalles Property, resulting in a criminal case being brought to the Wasco County Circuit Court. This month, Judge Marion T. Weatherford passed judgment on the case, convicting a local man of criminal mischief in the second degree.

Over Labor Day weekend trees and brush were clear-cut from Port of The Dalles property between Riverfront Trail and the Columbia River just north of Klindt Cove Park.

Several boathouses caught fire at The Dalles Marina in the early 4th of July morning.
