Six Rivers Dispute Resolution Center Graduates Mediators, to Offer 1 Day Training in Oct.

Hood River, Ore. Sept. 5, 2024 — Eleven local people completed Six Rivers Dispute Resolution Center’s 40-hour Basic Mediation Training in May of 2024: Kristin Alligood, Gena Arthur, Laurie Barnes, Brendan Brown, Rae Peil, Natalie Cox-Price, Rebecca Hilderbrand, Raelynn Keron, Marques Lang, Richard Tillinghast and Tova Tillinghast. This training provided students with the philosophy and skills needed to have a working knowledge of the role of an impartial mediator. Graduates will use the conflict resolution skills gained in the training to serve the Gorge in a variety of ways- at work, at home, and in their communities.

Six Rivers Dispute Resolution Center will again offer 40-hour Basic Mediation Training in the spring of 2025, dates TBD.

Six Rivers is also offering an in-person, 1-Day Listening Skills and Conflict Resolution Training on Friday, October 25th, from 9 AM to 5 PM. This in-person workshop will be held at Riverside Community Church, 317 State Street in Hood River, OR from 9 AM- 5 PM. The cost is $90/person. This training is an opportunity to learn skills such as Listening Techniques, Conflict Styles, and Understanding Positions and Interests. These topics are also covered in the comprehensive 40-hour Basic Mediation Training, which will happen in Spring 2025 (date TBD). The one-day workshop is perfect for those who are interested in conflict resolution but can’t commit to the 40-hour course.

Please note: If you plan to take both the 1-day workshop in October and the 40-hour Basic Mediation Training in the spring, there will be some overlap in the material covered.
