By Xavier Orion Olaez
The Dalles Boys Basketball team played against Estacada in a nonleague away game on Monday, Jan 10th and dominated the Rangers. Even without three of their players, the Hawks still won 69-51.
The first quarter was all Riverhawks. They did their part on both sides of the ball and the offense was dropping buckets everywhere. At the end of the first quarter, the score was 22-11 with TD leading.
The second quarter was closer as the Rangers outscored the Hawks by just a bit. The Hawks scored 13 and the Rangers scored 17. So, going into halftime TD was still up 35-28.
The Riverhawks came out of halftime ready to take an even bigger lead. They scored 25 points in the third quarter which is very impressive and their defense held Estacada to only 15 points. At the end of the third, the Hawks led 60-43.
The fourth quarter was slow on both sides of the ball with each team not scoring much, but the Hawks held their big lead and won 69-51.
Senior Tristan Bass led the Hawks in scoring with 21 points and hitting 5 three-pointers.
The Hawks played on Wednesday, Jan. 12, in an away game against Gladstone at 7 P.M. They lost the game 48-36. They will need to take a deep breath as they are taking on Redmond tonight at Kurtz Gym at 6:30 p.m.
