Dead trees to be replaced in downtown TD next week at no additional cost
From The City of The Dalles:
The Dalles, Ore. Oct. 7, 2024—The City of The Dalles announces that Davey Tree Experts, the contractor for the downtown tree project, will replant trees to replace those that have not survived the summer.
Trees will be replanted from October 16th through October 18th.
Under the terms of the contract, Davey Tree Experts will plant and care for these new trees for a minimum of three years from planting at no additional cost to the City.
Recently, a certified arborist from Davey Tree Experts conducted a walk-around with the City Manager, Matthew Klebes and Community Development Director, Joshua Chandler, to discuss tree health on-site and to outline plans for a more successful planting this fall. Additionally, the arborist attended a Beautification and Tree Committee meeting to answer questions and address concerns. The focus was on ensuring that lessons learned from the initial planting would be applied to adjust care practices and promote the health of the new trees.
Joshua Chandler commented, “Davey Tree Experts have demonstrated a strong commitment to addressing our concerns and adapting their approach based on the feedback received. Their involvement is crucial to the success of our downtown tree project.”
A representative from Davey Tree Experts added, “We are dedicated to learning from our experiences and ensuring that the trees we plant will thrive. Our goal is to contribute to a vibrant and sustainable urban environment for The Dalles.”
