The Dalles Ore. March 12, 2024 — The Board of Directors of the PUD is happy to announce its new Scholarship Program. This year, the Board will award three scholarships of $10,000 each. The awards will be paid directly to the educational institution in two annual $5,000 payments, upon confirmation of registration.
Applicants must reside within the service territory of the PUD and graduate this year with a cumulative GPA of 2.0 or higher or complete their GED this year. Applications have been delivered to the three high schools in the District, S. Wasco, Dufur, and The Dalles. GED students can request an application by emailing Public- Relations@nwascopud.org.
The purpose of the scholarship is to promote interest and support education in the utility industry. The utility industry is vast and diverse and there is a broad range of potential jobs within this industry, including, for example, line work, tree trimming, engineering, energy efficiency, accounting and finance, communications, customer service, human resources, and many others.
“The Northern Wasco County PUD is pleased to be able to offer generous scholarships to high school seniors in our service area who are interested in furthering their education in a field related to the power industry,” said Board President Greg Johnson. The full Scholarship Program Policy can be requested by emailing Public- Relations@nwascopud.org.
