Parade Duty - Veterans Day Parade with flyover starts at 11 a.m.

The Springs Maintenance Man Brian Brown gets the heat started for residents who will flock to the Gary Denney Floor Covering parking lot on west Sixth Street for The Dalles Veterans Day Parade. Tom Akre, who usually provides transportation helped with chairs and tables. The two can now officially add parade duty to their resumes.

Veterans Day is held on the anniversary of the end of World War I to honor US veterans and victims of all wars. The Dalles Area Chamber of Commerce will be hosting a parade to honor local veterans. We want to show our appreciation to those who have fought for our freedoms and liberties. We encourage the community to get involved to show their support for our local heroes.

The parade begins at 11 a.m. with lineup starting at 10 a.m. The parade lineup starts at West Sixth and Webber streets, then rolls downtown before disbanding at The Dalles Chamber. We ask that those who participate follow a patriotic theme.

Two F-15 Eagle tactical fighters will flyover The Dalles at 11:15 a.m. to honor local veterans.

The Chamber has arranged an official flyover on Thursday as well, slated to happen at 11:15 am. It worked for 6 months with the many levels of our military, to receive approval for the official flyover to honor our local veterans.

This flyover will feature two F-15 Eagles, a twin-engine, all-weather tactical fighter aircraft designed by McDonnell Douglas.
Please tell all the veterans you know to stand tall knowing that this is for them.
