Hood River, Ore., April 5, 2025 — Hundreds of protestors showed up in the Port of Hood River on Saturday in the national Hands Off protest that were held around the United States in protest of policies being enacted by the Trump Administration.
Protestors started in the grass north of Ferment Brewing at 11 a.m. and then marched to the public fountain next to Horsefeathers at 2nd and State streets.
Reasons for the protest were myriad as can be seen by the signs of demonstrators.
CNN reported that “organizers say they have three demands: “an end to the billionaire takeover and rampant corruption of the Trump administration; an end to slashing federal funds for Medicaid, Social Security, and other programs working people rely on; and an end to the attacks on immigrants, trans people, and other communities.”
Hand’s Off is a national protest event that was organized by Indivisible, a grassroots movement of thousands of local groups with a mission to elect progressive leaders, rebuild democracy, and defeat the Trump agenda, according to its website. Indivisible said it had some 600,000 people signed up to attend events on Saturday.
