Hey you Turkeys, you raised $8,760 for the TD backpack program
Turkeys were in fine form on Thanksgiving.
No, not the ones roasting in your oven.
The ones running down the street from Lewis & Clark Festival Park in The Dalles.
There were as many turkey costumes as sneakers that morning. Well, that’s an overstatement. But people came to play.
Here’s the good news.
Rachel Carter with Columbia Gorge Motors reports that 220 participants showed up for the Second Annual Turkey Trot 5k Run/Walk Family Fun Run.
Not so simple. The run started at 8 a.m.
But here is the gravy.
The Trot brought $8,760, Carter said today, Dec. 2.
And it will all go toward The Dalles Backpack Program, which provides food to students on weekends.
“It was a great turnout,” Carter said.
Columbia Gorge Motors matched every dollar brought in at the event to hit that $8,760 mark.
