The Dalles, OR. October 9, 2023 - The Dalles Area Chamber, in collaboration with Google, is excited to present a FREE training session for Nonprofit Board and Leadership on October 19, 2023, from 9:00 am to 11:30 am. This engaging training will take place at CGCC/Theatre Room located at 400 E Scenic Drive, The Dalles. This opportunity was made possible by a Google Community Grant.
Training Overview: A high-performing volunteer Board is paramount for the successful governance of a nonprofit organization. However, the roles and responsibilities of a Board are not commonly understood, leading to potential challenges within the organization. This training aims to address this gap by equipping participants with the knowledge needed for optimal Board performance.
Key Topics Include:
• Differences in roles between Boards, committees, and staff.
• Understanding a Board member's fiduciary liabilities.
• Proper engagement of the invaluable asset that is a volunteer Board member.
• Board responsibilities, Governance, Leadership Structure, and the process of Developing
and Evaluating an organization.
Who Should Attend: Nonprofit Board members, Executive Directors, and Committee members across the region and community are encouraged to attend.
Speaker Profile: Alison Hart, our esteemed speaker, boasts over 30 years of experience in leading and nurturing organizations. A former CEO in the nonprofit and association sectors, Alison has an enriched background in leadership, virtual/live facilitation, strategic planning, program development, and stakeholder engagement. With her vast experience, Alison has collaborated with a variety of organizations, including chambers of commerce, nonprofits, business alliances, and Small Business Development Networks across the nation. Holding the Certified Association Executive (CAE) title and being a graduate of the Western Association of Chamber Executives Academy, Alison is passionately dedicated to aiding leaders in enhancing their capabilities and driving meaningful change.
