Get Ready Rumba! Dancing with Gorge Stars is on Friday, Jan. 14

There was no sleeping in for six locals this morning, Sunday Jan. 9th.

Why?

Because there’s a big show coming up. And they’re cutting rugs like a wig company to prepare.

“These dance routines are not easy,” said Mark Lowes, owner of Utah Ballroom Dance Company which is providing the expertise for this extravaganza in The Dalles.

What’s the fuss about?

Dancing with the Gorge Stars, of course. It is set for Friday, Jan. 14.

And it is the major fundraiser for the nonprofit Mid-Columbia Community Concert Association that brings artists and audiences together at affordable prices.

Mark your calendar. Buy your tickets.

This year’s contest features locals Dennis Morgan, Erika Wilson, Tria Bullard, Annette Byers, Todd Carpenter and Aaron Carter.

Who’s going to win the coveted mirror globe trophy?

It’s up for the taking.

Got to go if you want to know.

But, we can tell you this.

Every contestant said they had a good shot at winning this thing as they have grown comfortable with their professional dancing partners, Tim Gillespie, Bailey Steffen, Drew Innis, Kylie Burns and Annika Pound.

“This is a really good group,” said Lowes. “High energy.”

The contest is currently set to glide the stage at The Dalles High School Auditorium at 7 p.m. Prepaid tickets are $25 at Klindt’s Booksellers, The Dalles Area Chamber of Commerce’s office or online here. Otherwise, it’s $30 at the door.
