Help Shape the Future of the old Tony’s Town & Country Site

The Dalles, Ore., April 26, 2024 – The Columbia Gateway Urban Renewal Agency (CGURA) is seeking public input on the redevelopment of a prime piece of downtown property located at 2nd and Federal street, (the former location of Tony’s Town & Country.)
The property, acquired by CGURA in 2016, has remained unoccupied since the Tony’s building was deemed economically unviable for restoration. The building was demolished last fall and with the site now cleared, the urban renewal board is ready open to suggestions from the community on how best to utilize the space.
Ideas and proposals can be submitted until June 7, 2024, through an online form available here.
The agency encouraged the community to participate in public input:
"Be the driving force behind the transformation of Tony’s Town & Country’s former site! From innovative business ideas to vibrant community spaces, we’re open to all ideas. Unleash your creativity and help us turn this blank canvas into a thriving hub.” said the Urban Renewal Agency.
Following public input, the Urban Renewal Board plans to review all submissions at their June meeting and select a project that aligns with the town’s needs and aspirations.
In addition to the online form, CGURA has facilitated local engagement by placing banners and posters at the site downtown The Dalles proclaiming “Attention: Re-Envisioning in progress!” These materials feature a QR code that directly links to the submission form, making it easy for passersby to access and participate in the decision-making process.
