Columbia Gorge Toyota and Honda in the hunt Saturday
Jonathan Sarabia of Maupin might not have made it to the Easter Egg Hunt on Saturday, April 8 in The Dalles,.
But The Maupin High School Senior did make it to the Columbia Gorge Toyotoa and Honda Community Cleanup day and found himself working along West Second Street finding a bag full of treasures.
The 18-year-old said he was fulfilling his community service hours to graduate this spring. GO REDSIDES! There is still a couple more opportunities to earn community hours for seniors as the community cleanups occur on the second Saturday of each month starting at Thompson Park in The Dalles.
Other community hosts on Saturday for the clean-up were The Wasco County Democrats, Protect Oregon’s Progress, and Columbia Gorge Community College.
Sarabia also said it felt pretty good to be helping make the place look a bit better. A gaggle of volunteers turned out for the event which combed west Second and Sixth Streets in the Dalles, bagging more than 25 bundles of garbage that had made it to the ditch area abutting Interstate 84.
And just down the street their was another kind of hunt going on - The Columbia Gorge Toyota and Honda Egg Scramble at Lewis & Clark Festival Park near the Union Street underpass.
Gobs of children and parents made their way to the event, filling baskets with eggs.
