A Portland man was arrested Thursday night after leading law enforcement on a high-speed chase that spanned three counties and reached speeds of 143 mph on Interstate 84.
Lookout towers will be featured in the first Regional History Forum program at the Original Wasco County Courthouse Saturday, Feb. 1. Forum begins at 1:30 p.m. in the upstairs courtroom of the 1859 courthouse, 410 West 2nd Place, The Dalles.
The Wasco Public Library hosted a hands-on cooking event for children on Jan. 30, featuring students from The Dalles High School Advanced Cooking Class. The Kid-Friendly Cooking Class invited children from pre-K to fifth grade to observe and participate in a simple, fun recipe demonstration.
A woman was arrested early Wednesday morning after allegedly stealing a pickup truck in The Dalles and crashing it south of Maupin, according to law enforcement officials.

Jessamyn Duckwall, a writing instructor at CGCC and lifelong Hood River resident, has been selected as a recipient of the prestigious 2025 Oregon Literary Arts Fellowship.
